A Clash of Kings picks up where A Game of Thrones ended. The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros are plagued by civil war, while the night's watch mounts a reconnaissance force north of the Wall to investigate the mysterious people, known as wildlings, who live there. Meanwhile, in the distant east, Daenerys continues her quest to return to and conquer the Seven Kingdoms. All signs are foreshadowing the terrible disaster that is to come.

Another one that I never wanted to put down. If I could get paid reading books like these, I would be a happy man. Shows the gritty realism, knights are trained killing machines, and they do a whole lot of killing.

Most fantasy is tailored more for junior high and older, this one is not one of those. The killing is bloody, the sex is dirty, the language is rather coarse at times. My kind of book!

Another thing I think the author does a superb job of, is making the female characters believable. I think he must do a lot of psychology research for his books, or is just really great at learning how other people think.
